COMMENTARY

After completing the song, Komuro Tetsuya called Amuro Namie and announced he had a very good song for her. The singer said she had goose bumps when she first listened to it.

The lyrics part “Let’s a party time tonight” is actually a misprint for “It’s a party time tonight”. On the other hand, Komuro Tetsuya chose to use English and Japanese expressions that are grammatically incorrect because they sounded better.

The re-release of CAN YOU CELEBRATE? as a Maxi Single in December 1997 was a Christmas gift from Komuro Tetsuya to commemorate Amuro Namie’s wedding with Maruyama Masaharu.

Amuro responded: “Thank you very much. It’s a different version, right? I’m happy. At first I didn’t hear a word, and today I heard from staff and I was so surprised. I’m sooo happy. Thanks very much. I’m married! (laughs) It’s an excellent song for all couples. On Christmas Day listen to this song and please dream about things like marriage.”

CAN YOU CELEBRATE? is one of the most popular wedding songs in Japan.
