COMMENTARY


Komuro Tetsuya was inspired by Amuro Namie’s own feelings when he wrote this song.

Writer Murakami Ryu hints at SWEET 19 BLUES in his 1997 novel In the Miso Soup:

Lady #3 had begun singing an Amuro tune, something about how lonely everybody is deep down inside – but the waiter didn’t look at her, didn’t even seem to be aware of the fact that someone was singing.

She didn’t know what she wanted to do, so she ended up singing an Amuro song all by herself in that lonely place
