Experience the “Golden Touch.”
This is a music video made by PARTY NY, for the song “Golden Touch” from the album “_genic” by the queen of J-POP, Namie Amuro. We wanted to create a music video that allows you to virtually experience how it feels to have a “Golden Touch.” Please enjoy the unique sensation of “touching” a video.

BACKGROUND
Our task was to come up with a unique and artistic music video experience with strong viral qualities, to introduce Namie Amuro to new global audiences outside of Japan and Asia.

IDEA
Based on the title “Golden Touch” and the song lyrics, we came up with an idea to create a video that allows you to virtually experience how it feels to have a “golden touch.” By placing your finger at the center of the screen, it feels as though you are touching the scene and affecting what happens inside the video.

WORKFLOW
First we brainstormed by touching nearly 200 sketches to determine the ones that had the most “virtual touch” effect. After the trial-and-error process, we organized the selected scenarios into buckets such as ‘poking’, ‘swipe’, ‘multiple tapping’, and ‘magical’ (scenarios that feel out-of-this-world) and lined them up in the best most interesting order.

We focused mainly on filming actual objects to enforce the illusions of actual touch. We also experimented with various sizes and zoom/scroll speed of the shots to maximize this “virtual touch” experience.

RESULTS
The “Golden Touch” music video attracted over 10 million views in just the first two months of its release. To celebrate and show appreciation to the viewers, we subsequently made “Golden Touch – 10 Millions Views version” which features the real Namie Amuro.
