Creative Director / Fashion Designer / Photographer

Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019) was a German creative director, fashion designer, artist, photographer and caricaturist based in Paris. In 1967, he became the creative director of Fendi and then, simultaneously, of Chanel in 1983, contributing to modernize the French fashion house. Even after his death, Lagerfeld remains one of the most proeminent figures of the fashion world, who took the opportunity to collaborate with many artists around the world.

In September 2009, Karl Lagerfeld shot Amuro Namie in Fendi clothes for VOGUE Japan (published in August 2010). Some of the pictures shown in the Fan Space booklet attest that Amuro and her team spent time at Lagerfeld’s famous Paris appartement. Just before arriving in France for the shooting, Amuro was invited to attend Fendi’s show at Milan Fashion Week. She was accompanied in Paris and Milan by fashion curator and designer Kagaya Mari, who was then working for Fendi.

Amuro Namie is also known to be very connected to the Chanel house through Karl Lagerfeld: not only did she attend the Tokyo Chanel Spring Haute Couture Show in 2012 and the Seoul Chanel Cruise Collection Fashion Show in 2015, but she also chose to only wear pieces from Chanel for her Livegenic 2015-2016 promotional pictures and pamphlet.
