COMMENTARY
ALARM‘s original demo title was CLOCK.
ALARM is the only solo single by Amuro Namie that did not chart on the Oricon Weekly top 10. As a consequence, when the artist announced her retirement in September 2017, fans decided to launch a special campaign to push ALARM to the weekly top 10, so Amuro could achieve a new record.
The purchase campaign was launched between November 13th-19th and was both supported by music stores and ALARM‘s songwriter, MONK. avex trax also accepted to reissue the single, so enough copies could be made available in stores. Unfortunately, the single only reached #14 with 6,808 copies sold.
Drag queen Margaret makes an appearance in ALARM‘s music video. At the end of the video, a ring is thrown at the screen and picked up by a long-haired man whose look is reminiscent of Amuro’s former husband.
mandom LUCIDO-L’s commercial features a different choreography for ALARM.
