COMMENTARY
RESPECT the POWER OF LOVE was released the same day Amuro Namie’s mother was murdered. The artist consequentely canceled promotional activities on the days that followed.
In January 2000, Amuro announced on her official website that she had thought about retiring, but her fans’ encouragement helped her to go on. She added that she would not have been able to sing any other song than RESPECT the POWER OF LOVE at the time.
The music video was shot at Coyote Dry Lake, California, just like Madonna’s “Frozen” one year before.
