Namie Amuro, one of J-pop’s brightest and most beloved divas, shed tears along with fans at Tokyo Dome on June 3, wrapping up her final concert tour ahead of her retirement in September.

“I will never be on stage like this after Sept. 16,” Amuro, 40, told the packed dome of about 52,000 fans. “To my fans and those who have supported me, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for creating memories of the past 25 years.”

The J-pop icon performed about 30 of her hits, including the 1990s blockbuster, “Can You Celebrate?”

The tour, titled “Namie Amuro Final Tour 2018–Finally,” started in Nagoya in February.

The tour featured 23 concerts at five domed ballparks across Japan as well as venues in Hong Kong and other major cities in China and Taiwan.

In all, a lucky 800,000 fans attended the tour in Japan and overseas. Domestically, more than 5.1 million applications were received for the limited 750,000 seats.

Amuro announced her retirement on her official website on Sept. 20, 2017, her 40th birthday. Her musical career will end on Sept. 16, which marks the 26th anniversary of her debut.
