Namie Amuro has been chosen to be the artist to sing the theme song for the movie “Dakishimetai ― Shinjitsu no Monogatari” starring Nikishido Ryo and Kitagawa Keiko. The song is titled “Tsuki” (ツキ) and it is her first song with a Japanese title since “Ningyo” in 2006.

The movie is based on a true story and is a love story between a girl on a wheelchair, who is unable to properly use the left side of her body due to a traffic accident and also suffers from a memory disorder, and an ordinary taxi driver, and the hardships they struggle to over come in order to find happiness.

The song itself is a medium-slow number full of emotion about the people most important in our lives, written in the image of the movie.

Film producer Takashi Hirano commented “I think Namie Amuro is an artist whose songs about life capture the hearts of many people. With the road that Masami and Tsukasa walked, I knew only Amuro could sing a song about the story of these two people. The moment I heard the finished song, I was shocked. It’s almost as if it was a message from Heaven in response to the last scene of the movie.”
