You had just returned from a photoshoot in Spain at the time of this ViVi interview, Amuro-chan. How was it?

The place had a country-town feeling and the people who live there were so sweet. They baked bread for me during the photoshoot, and because the sun was intense, they opened a place for me and said “here you are, take a break here,” everyone was just very kind. The food in Spain is so good, too! Especially the squid ink paella, a specialty. During the shoot, there was plenty of waiting for the weather, and since the waiting time was long, I’d read Ousama Game, a original cell novel that I bought because I was captivated by the cover and title.

Running away on your own!?

How do you spend your off-hours when you travel to the many places during your tour?

When I was on a last-minute book tour, I didn’t have any freedom, so in the old days I’d sneak away as I pleased on my own and go shopping, haha! When I snuck away in Osaka, I got in a taxi, and when I told the driver, “I’d like to do a little shopping,” he asked me “what would you like to buy? Pants?” then dropped me off at OPA and said, “there’s a lot of shopping if you go here”…. But before long, the staff asked, “where are you?” and a group came to get me and jumped me from all sides! That’s what it felt like. I’m an adult now so I just tell people where I’m going when I leave and just go, haha.

Loving beige-pink

I think many readers feel like summer is the time to wear maxi dresses, so do you have a favorite one today?

I love maxi dresses, I wear them often. I purchased the pink-beige all-in-one that I wore today! I like it because I feel all soft when I wear pink-beige.

 

Mutant X
It’s well-known that you, Amuro-chan, like dramas from overseas. Do you have any recent favorites?

I’m currently watching Gossip Girl season 3. After that, Mutant X. No place sold it no matter where I looked – it was in Fukuoka when I finally found it, haha. Still haven’t come across season 1 in any city, so I watched from season 2. And then Mentalist! The main cast is really cool & stylish

 

WORK OUT
You only went to the gym 3 times in the last year!?

Your recent collab album Checkmate! is currently on sale, and you’ll be starting your arena tour in July! I heard you only went to the gym 3 times in the last year!! So have you already started training to build up your strength?

I do intense training at a pace of about once every three years, so my personal taste there may seem a little unexpected. When I build my body once, I can usually keep it like that so I haven’t had to go to the gym and do much this year, been a good year for me. I also bought a training set this year too, so I can easily do that at home. I like that I can do the same now in silence, so I’m trying hard with the same plan this year!

Local specialties once again

On your previous tour blog, you said you looked forward to eating local specialties during your tour. Are there any foods you are looking forward to this year?

Hakata’s sukiyaki shops! I go there every time but it’s just so good. Looking forward to my chance this year too!!

 

SUMMER PLANS
Plans for this summer

I think your summer may be tough one with your tour right in the middle, but is there anything you’d say, “I need to do ____ this summer?

hmmm, I wonder! Some years ago when I finally performed at a-nation, everyone on the staff rented a car, went to the beach, did kumitaisou and make pyramids, haha. We had a lot of fun playing around there so I’d like to do that again somewhere close-by. Especially in Miyazaki, love it there.

Purchased a vintage style sofa?

You’ve previously discussed what you’re into regarding the interior of your rooms. Have you bought anything for them recently?

I’ve been looking forever for a brand-new sofa with a vintage look, but I actually happened across one at a shop in Oka on a casual outing; it was love at first sight. I was hesitant, making excuses yet firm in my position, but of course I wanted it…. after sitting on it for three days, I just bought it!

Obsessed with Ikemen Desu Ne!?

I heard you recently got into Ikemen Desu Ne. Who are you rooting for?

Hmmm, it’s a little similar to Hana Yori Dango, no? During Hana Yori Dango I was on team Rui Hanazawa, and for this I’m on team Shin Hye to be with Geun Suk.
