COMMENTARY

Hero was selected as the NHK Japanese theme song for the 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Rio de de Janeiro.

Amuro Namie was chosen by the NHK committee for her “powerful voice that can deeply move people’s hearts” and “her popularity among different generations”.

Each part of the music video, which was made into three preliminary trailers, represents a specific aspect: the green floor represents “Love”, the water floor represents “Life” and the flame floor represents “Passion”.

A special Olympic “Gold Edition” music video was broadcasted by NHK.
